Dull

News- and media-loathing-wise, it’s a dull Friday. The presidential election looks like it’s going to keep grinding along regardless of its near-total irrelevance to you and me. The economy continues its apparent descent into some sort of stagnation, doldrums, snit, funk, whatever. Commodity prices are up, including coffee and of course oil, driven in part by the perpetually weakening dollar. The LA Times is running a weak story on how much rich people pamper their pets–this is news? No one with any sense at all gives a shit about Prince Harry in (or out) of Afghanistan, and your home is still worth less than it was when you bought it, if not more so. Even the marketing rags and the Wall St. Journal don’t have anything new and interesting to write about. It’s going to be a sunny 65 degrees in ABQ today and I’m feeling too good about life to really generate much in the way of homegrown loathing.

When you take into account the above, the big picture is gloomy. The best possible thing you can do? Ignore it altogether! You can’t do anything about it anyway! Why worry? Focus on the people around you and the things that are meaningful to you.

So go outside. And be alive this weekend!

  1. I know this is the wrong post, but I just saw something inspiration. An exceptionally attractive woman in a tank top clinging a young puppy to her bosom.

Using sex to sell puppies: Chicks love puppies. Buying a puppy will get you some tail.

  2. On this weekend, I think I’ll just stay safely indoors, thank you. And I think, because we can’t all get off the topic, I’m hereby dubbing RG as the PSRG… the Puppy Sex Ridin’ Guy.

  3. Or, you could sue puppies, to sell sex!

Oh, wait, you don’t need to do that, sex sells itself.

Anyways: Yeah, looking at the news in the papers for the last few days, I haven’t seen anything good. News is boring. Which is sad. Considering all of the shit that’s happening in the world today, you’d think there would be something to report on, but there isn’t.

I mean, some newspaper report on the state of healthcare, an analysis of the economic situation[Not just more of 'it's bad people'] An update on the situations in various countries… how’s Darfur doing? I haven’t heard shit about Darfur in forever. Did they stop dying? I don’t know ’cause my paper only talk about political campaigns, which are the same news: Obama is overtaking Clinton. whoop dee doo.

And while you may not be able to change the world, you should still know about it…. I was shocked by the world knowledge one friend of mine recently diplayed to me.

He didn’t know who Kim Jong Il is.

Kim Jong Il is a living Bond Villain. You have to know who he is.

His stance on Illegal immigration: It’s bad, because they don’t deserve to be here.

After explaining the reason for illegal immigrants, he abandoned that stance for one of ‘Oh, well now I don’t care.’

GYAHHHHH! PEOPLE LIKE THAT DON’T DESERVE TO VOTE!

  4. PBS is running a documentary by the name of “The Clash Live: Revolution Rock”

I doubt you’ll get this in time, and it doesn’t constitute a phone call, but if you see this you might be interested and catch it.
